Before you have any surgery, we want you to feel comfortable putting your wellbeing in our hands. What is an anesthesiologist?
An anesthesiologist is a medical professional who assesses your health to determine the safest route for you to receive anesthesia during a surgical procedure. They monitor your breathing, blood circulation, blood pressure, and vital organs and correct any complications before they escalate.

What are the different types of anesthesia?

What are the risks of undergoing anesthesia?
Advances in anesthesia technology have made it safer than ever before with very minimal risks. However, each patient is different, and your anesthesiologist is a trained professional in identifying risks that may be too great.

Can I eat or drink before receiving anesthesia?
No. It is very important to fast or stop eating the night before your procedure to reduce complications during your surgery the next day. The combination of medications increases the likelihood of vomiting and aspirating – a complication when the contents of your stomach enter your lungs.

What insurance is accepted?

Can I still take my regular medications leading up to my appointment?
This depends on the conversation you have with your physician. Some medications may adversely interact with anesthesia medicine. It is important to have full disclosure with your provider on any medications or supplements you are currently taking, so the best plan of action can be put in place.

How will I feel after?
Every patient is different, but you may experience drowsiness, nausea, or a sore throat after. All necessary precautions will be taken to reduce the side effects of anesthesia with most symptoms going away in two days or less. If you are experiencing discomfort for an extended period of time, consult with your physician.
